The band started off in the recording studio at university, messing about with some dance tunes back in 1992/3 with friends. After that I was keyboard player / weird sound producer in an ambient-reggae-dub-type band. This is where alot of ideas sprang from and where I really started writing properly on my own. A year or so after the band split up I was messing about playing around with some ideas and was asked if I'd like to do a set at a dance night my mate was putting on at uni. So back to work getting the tunes up to scratch, at this stage running everything live off a Roland D-110 module, a Casio HT-6000 keyboard and a Casio FZ-1 sampler, with added vocal samples being played off cassette tape. This all duly made it through the gig before the old Atari kicked up its heels. After a forced break whilst everything was moved over to a newly acquired Mac things were back on track and the possibilities of digital audio and all the associated fun and games beckoned.
So a new fast Mac was bought along with a copy of Cubase VST, and now all the sounds from the D-110 and the sampler could be recorded into the computer where I could add FX and record more sounds from the modules than I could previously have played at once. At present the sampler has gone in favour of a faster computer and CD writer, and I'm starting writing more tunes with a couple of extra sound modules and the LM-4 soft drum synth for easier drum programming. Eventually I'll get a faster computer so I can play about with FX in real-time, and then maybe start with some video running alongside ...
